King and Queen of 55F

In our democratic country, anyone can become a minister but not be a King and Queen right? Not anymore, we give you an opportunity to be crowned in style as the first ever King and Queen of 55F.  So ready for the battle of the crown?

So you are a fiction writer and can play with words and plots? Time to challenge yourselves and treat the readers with your fascinating story telling in 55words or under.

But the crowning moment is not easy and in Cafe GingerChai we believe in your talent and appropriately test it to with our new formats of game. So the contest is not about just writing a regular 55F, we have a twist int he tale err format.

Rules of the contest:

  • You have to write a set of three 55F.
  • The first two sets should be a story on its own.
  • The  two stories should  climax / conclude / inter-twine in the third set of 55F.
  • The story could be of any genre i.e, love, crime, mystery or thriller etc.

Now isn’t it going to be challenging, interesting as well as a fitting test for the crown?

Last date for the entries:

Your contest entries should be published in your blog on or before Saturday, 5th of February 2011 and the link of the entry submitted here in the comment section.

Submission guidelines:

Copy the following HTML code and paste to your beginning of the  entry post in Edit HTML mode.

  • So you got to be crowned the King and Queen in this democratic country.
  • The winning king and queen would be sporting our GingerChai T-shirt.  Wear our brew!
  • A special surprise gift along with the Tees. (in other words, we are still working out  what the surprise would be but we can assure you it would be a pleasant surprise ;) )

Judges:

For this contest, we have taken the 33% women reservation a bit far ahead to make it a complete 100% reservation. Yes, we have a all women 3 judges panel to decide the crown.

The three judges are:

  • Vidya Sury (a popular judge by now in various platform as well as one of our BPL Edition 1 judge plus from our GC panel)
  • Jyothika Lobo ( A corporate manager with a qualified literature background)
  • Mani Padma (Does she need an intro? She is our own GingerChai Co-editor)

Judging Criteria:

Keep an eye for the following criteria while you weave your story.

  • Content
  • Grammar
  • Flow
  • Creativity / uniqueness
  • Impact

Best of luck. Let the better candidate be crowned the King and Queen!

    Where’s the like button for this post again?

  4. Sayak

    I’d written something like this before the contest was announced, and it contains 7 pieces instead of 3. I don’t think it will qualify, but please let me know about if it does. This is the post.

  5. admin

    @Sayak

    For this format the entries should stick to the rules we have laid out. So I think your post that you mentioned would not be qualifying for this contest. Looking forward to your fresh entry for the contest. Good luck!

    Plz clarify,
    > Is there any particular title of the post… since we are writing three different 55fictions!
    > Also tell us if all the three 55fictions has to be written in the same post or in different posts with different or same title?

  10. admin

    @Rachana

    1. There will be only one main title for the 3 parts. Though you can have sub titles for each sets (like a chapter heads) The title word count will not be counted in the 55 word counts.

    2. Though the first two sets should be a 55F on its own. They are going to climax/conclude in the 3rd set, so effectively put together the three will be one single story when read together. So, the 3 sets should be written in the same post with one single title.

    Do the sets have to be in linear order?

  26. Sudhakar M

    Here’s mine -
    http://idlivadasambar.wordpress.com/2011/02/05/up-and-above/

  27. admin

    @Iqbal

    It does not necessary have to be in linear order but yes there should be two of the three should be a story on its own and one set should have the intertwining part of the two stories. A writer can take his creative liberty in positioning the sets.
